This past week I had a awesome opportunity to travel to the windy city with a great friend/photographer, Ashley. We flew in to attend a workshop called The Fix, hosted by Jasmine Star. I’ve been following Jasmine’s photography work for awhile now and she was who inspired me to start photographing weddings. It amazes me how much and how big of a name she as made for herself in just a few short years. She truly inspires me and constantly reminds me that there is nothing wrong with dreaming big…. cause just one day your dreams may come true. Meeting her was of course the highlight of my trip and I brought back a lot of inspiration. A recharge was what I needed and what I got!

While in Chicago, Ashley and I enjoyed the food, the shopping, the double decker tour bus, President Obama visiting and causing havoc with traffic downtown, and took a TON of photographs of course. One thing that has always interested me is street photography, specifically the homeless. Growing up in a really small town I never saw homeless people. Their story intrigues me. How did they get there? Where is their family? Are they just wanting money to go buy drugs and alcohol or will my pocket change be put towards something worthwhile? I noticed things like, the tattered Bible laying next to them, how dirty or clean their finger nails were. I thought about things like, how did they have enough money to laminate the sign they are holding… many things come to mind but regardless of all those things I can’t help but feel sympathy for them. So many people have such a negative feeling towards the homeless, thinking they are just there to take your dollar and not do good with it. That may very well be the case but regardless they intrigue me, I want to know more and I want to document them. I’m not sure where this new found interest in photography will take me but its something that’s sparked something in my soul… here are a few photos from my trip…

I had the pleasure of shooting my first winter/snow wedding this month! Although I have to admit I hate cold weather, it made for some pretty pictures. Mark and Molly got married in the church I got married in so that was fun to be shooting there. After the ceremony we stopped by The 94th Aero Squadron where they got engaged and managed to even snag a few photos at the same table Mark proposed! It was a gorgeous day filled with family, fun and laughter. Best wishes to the newlyweds! Thank you for choosing me to capture your beautiful day!

Hello blog, I am so sorry for ignoring you! Facebook has been so good to me its hard to visit you often! I had the wonderful opportunity yesterday to work with some fabulous ladies for a photo shoot for White of Dublin. We shot at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in downtown Columbus and got to work with Kelli with BeautimarkedbyKelli, Shannon Goode on hair and Alisha Thomas was our gorgeous model for the day. We even managed to sneak Kelli into a dress she was drooling over and get some gorgeous shots of her. Here are a couple first favs until I get the rest edited!

Yesterday I got to photograph my first birth session. What a neat experience that I will never forget. This was such a different experience from my normal sessions. The actual photographing techniques, the editing and of course feeling so honored to be chosen to share in such a important day in someone elses lives. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity.
